Join me as I take one photo a week for the next year, each one capturing a specific aspect of our family life and my kid’s childhood that I want remembered. You can read the introduction post here, an FAQ post here and all related posts here.
In the fourth week of each month I photograph the details of our life.
Assignment 48: Photograph your own hobbies or activities.
Photograph what you do for fun – for you – soccer, running, scrapbooking, hockey or whatever else is only yours.
Admittedly I could do a better job of making time for my own activities. You know how it is… between running a business, raising the kids and (hopefully) finding some time with my husband each day, there isn’t a lot of time for much else.
One thing I love to do is quilt. I just love all the beautiful colourful fabric, all the amazing modern quilt designs out there and the way a quilt just comes to together.
This is the first quilt I ever made. It sits on our family room sofa and gets used daily. They snuggle into it when they first come down the stairs in the morning, make forts out of it throughout the day and then I cuddle up under it at the end of my day when I finally sink into to the sofa. This day it was being used for an elaborate hospital scenario where you got wrapped in the blanket before the doctor comes to see you – don’t ask me where that game came from.
For Mother’s Day, part of my gift was an entire Saturday where the only thing I had to do all day was quilt. The silly thing is, the first day where I can really make that work is the middle of July. But it’s going to happen – there’s a half-finished quilt calling my name.
And then suddenly I realized I didn’t have a photograph of the quilt I made for Gracie’s crib right after she was born. So I had to throw in one extra photograph this week.
I’d love to see what you do for fun. If you play along this week, comment below or send me an email with the link to your blog.
